This week’s, Word of the Week is Arid finds myself with a bit of a revelation! I started combing through images and could not really find anything my brain considered arid. So I decided to look it up
2.lacking in interest, excitement, or meaning.“his arid years in suburbia”
synonyms: dreary, dull, drab, dry, sterile, banal, colourless, monochrome, unstimulating, uninspiring, flat, boring, uninteresting, monotonous, lifeless, tedious, vapid, jejune, soul-destroying “this town has an arid, empty feel”
Now I lived in a large, parched mostly red and brown country, yes? No! I love water, I am surrounded by water, my gardens, the places I visit, where I travel too……..they are all water based. I don’t live by the ocean (in fact over 40kms away), but I love to visit. I do not live remotely anywhere near anything particularly considered arid / desert areas. In saying that in Summer it gets pretty damn dry and very little water. Below are a few shots of dry, barren emptiness, with baked earth and summer heat beating down.
So in one way I feel I am a bit of a let down this week, but on the other hand to be blessed by being surrounded with water, life giving, beautiful water.
